The region’s main electricity distributor generated more than £60m in turnover from projects across the East of England in 2017, helped by 80 major schemes and an increase in the use of storage.

UK Power Networks said 14 large generation projects had helped it to build up a 188MVA output across the region, which the company said was down to a shift towards large-scale battery storage.

Among its highlights of 2017 were two projects to connect energy generators in Stowmarket and Cliff Quays in Ipswich, it said.
