Rail services between Colchester and Marks Tey were cancelled because of a tree obstructing the overhead power lines.

Trains between the stations were earlier cancelled and delayed.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia said earlier today: “Network Rail engineers are working as fast as possible to rectify of loss of overhead wire power between Colchester and Marks Tey, which is being caused by a tree obstructing the power lines, affecting the London-bound line.

“Trains will use the country-bound line in both directions between Kelvedon and Colchester, with delays, alterations and short notice cancellations likely.”

A rail replacement bus service ran between Colchester and Ipswich, via Manningtree.
