The westbound carriageway of the A14 near the Seven Hills roundabout will be closed for the rest of the night, police have said.
The closure follows an incident at about 3pm today on the road which involved three lorries.
The drivers involved in the incident are not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries but one person is believed to have suffered a possible life-changing injury.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said the westbound carriageway will be closed for the night.
He added part of the eastbound carriageway is now passable but he advised motorists to avoid the area.

@madaccountant I totally agree with your comment on tailgating, I'm a lorry driver and hate it when a lorry overtakes me and pull in front so there is little gap. As for your rolling road block.. ever wondered why? because it's so annoying when one lane start to move then all the cars dive into that lane causing that lane to stop, then the other lane moves and they all dive back in. So 2 lorries side by side slowly moving at a constant speed creating a gap as a buffer everyone keeps slowly moving instead of stop start created by the pen pushing brigade.

I wonder whenif the police are doing to do something about the driving standards of lorries. Everyday I see them tailgating each other with not even a car's length between them. The delays tonight eastbound weren't helped by lorries making their own rolling road block, at one point there was a good 14 maybe even 12 of clear road by two of these "Kings of the road"

A day of delays on our roads from onions on the road this morning to a Lorry crash tonight just goes to show how much we all depend on the A14 and how much kaos is caused when things go wrong !!

after all the evening star articles on drivers using mobile phones while driving,I find it quite disturbing to see one of your reporters or whom ever taking pictures of queing traffic at the scene of an accident while driving!!either mobile phone or camera.

it would be more of a news story if you reported when there were NO delays on Ipswich roads.
