Update: Man remains in critical condition in hospital after motorbike incident on A137 in Wherstead

A man in his 70s remained in a critical condition last night after he suffered a cardiac arrest while riding his motorbike and was resuscitated by paramedics.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were all sent to the scene of the incident, on the A137 at Wherstead, near the Suffolk Ski Centre, at about 12.05pm on Saturday.

The road was closed off to traffic while paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) gave the man lifesaving treatment. They eventually found a pulse.

The man was then airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for the East Anglian Air Ambulance said the man was taken to the cardiac unit at the hospital.

Last night, he remained in a critical condition, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said.

The incident involved only a Yamaha motorbike. The road was closed until about 1.40pm.

Witnesses or people with information relating to this incident are urged to call police on 101.
