  • Please accept my contribution to his train fare!! You might not get a stabbing in Holbrook, opinion man, but that village has its own share of problems too...I hate to disappoint you but there's plenty of drug use amongst kids there, and in the other villages on the peninsula! As I've said to you before, I agree there are certain areas of Ipswich that could do with improvement, but as others have said to you too it's no different to other towns and cities! I think it's you who needs to wake up and smell the coffee if you think comparing Ipswich to a village or market town is anything less than ludicrous.

  • Just four stories below this one there is report of a stabbing in Colchester but "the opinion man" - whose opinion doesn't count for much in the vast scheme of things - chooses not to comment on that one. No opinion on that one?

  • Opinion Man. Here is a thought, I don't much like some other towns in the UK so do you know what? I don't live in them or read their local paper. Do you see how it works?

  • I`ve lived here all my life and surely even the most blinkered leftie can see the town has become contaminated with the criminal classes from home and abroad. You can fool some of the people some of the time etc.

  • I would suggest that "the opinion man" goes to the trip adviser page - types in Ipswich - then if he still hates Ipswich I will gladly give him his train fare to leave our town.

  • Do any enterprising and investigative journalists at the Star have any figures to share with its readers about whether Ipswich is morelessaverage for this kind of crime compared to similar sized towns in England? I personally reserve judgement until any well sourced facts are presented.

  • @ Opinion Man.. How on earth can you compare the Ipswich crime rate to that of Lavenham & Holbrook, both of which are very small & Rural villages? I think it's about time you changed the record because your's has got a very big scratch on it and it keeps jumping to the same point over & over!

  • Wake up and smell the coffee. You would not have this crime happening in places like Lavenham or Holbrook. Just accept Ipswich is a "cesspit" and deal with it. Once you do we can make Ipswich a better place to live rather than pretending its OK and "just like" any other town

  • Unfortunately opinion man this is a sad fact of life in any large built up area - Ipswich is no worse than any other town of a similar size (as you have been told in these comment boxes many many times).
