Suffolk police is preparing for more high water after several drivers got stuck in flooding.

Dozens of roads in the county are difficult to pass with many impassable after a night of heavy rain.

Seven people, including a 10-year-old child, had to be rescued from four cars trapped between Bury St Edumunds and Haverhill.

Fire and police chiefs are urging motorists not to drive through flood water.

Officers said drivers should reduce their speed, use dipped headlights and increase the distance from the vehicle in front.

Police have said these areas have been worst affected:

A143 Wratting Road, Haverhill, near to the A604 The Pightle junction

A143 Bury Road, Stanton, at the B111 Barningham Road

A1088 Ixworth

Bull Lane, Long Melford

A1120 (Hackney Road) Peasenhall

In addition there is also standing water on many roads particularly the A12 at Wrentham and Yoxford.

For a full list of the roads affected go to the EADT or Ipswich Star websites.
