A BOY has suffered a serious foot injury after being struck by a van.

The accident happened on the A1071 in Hadleigh at about 4.30pm and police have issued a witness appeal.

The road was closed between Lady Lane and Aldham Mill Hill while the accident scene was investigated but has now reopened.

Police, ambulance paramedics and the air ambulance attended. The boy was taken to Colchester general Hospital and then transferred to Addenbooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for specialist treatment.

A police spokesman said: “It is understood that the boy has sustained a serious foot injury.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to call Suffolk Police on 101.
