A SCOOTER rider has been taken to hospital following an accident in the town centre this evening.

Police and medical response teams were at the scene of an accident, which happened at 6.14pm in Star Lane, near the Novotel roundabout and the junction with St Peter’s Street.

It is believed the rider swerved to avoid a pedestrian in the road and came off his scooter.

The rider has been taken to hospital but is not believed to be seriously injured.

Police directed traffic around the scene of the accident, which has now been cleared.
