A MAN has died after being hit by a train near Bentley.

A British Transport Police spokesman said a man’s body had been found between Bentley and the Halifax Junction in Suffolk.

Commuters had been experiencing train delays but the line between Manningtree and Ipswich has now been re-opened.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “British Transport Police were called to the line between Manningtree and Ipswich this morning, at 7.48am following a report of a body having been seen on the line.

“This was originally reported to Network Rail by a train driver as an animal strike. An operations manager attended the scene between Bentley and Halifax Junction and confirmed finding body parts.

“This death is being treated as non-suspicious.”

Greater Anglia said the train services running through these stations were returning to normal but some services may still be cancelled at short notice.

Disruption is expected until 11am.

Greater Anglia is advising commuters they can still travel to and from Norwich via Cambridge if they wish.

London Underground is accepting Greater Anglia ticket holders on any reasonable routes.

There has also been signalling problems at Chelmsford station.

Services may be cancelled or delayed.

There are no problems reported on the region’s roads.
