Emergency services were called at 7.12am to a serious crash between a coach and car.

No-one was seriously injured during the crash, which happened on the B1069 Woodbridge Road.

The crash took place between the Green Man Inn in Tunstall and the Bentwaters Airfield, at the junction with Ivy Lodge Road.

The road close and police officers on the scene say the closure is likely to remain in place until at least 10am to allow recovery of the coach.

Suffolk police say the single decker bus had no passengers on board at the time of the collision, just a driver.

The car driver, 33, is being treated for fractures and cuts to his head and leg, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment.

The bus driver, a 56-year-old man, is suffering from shock but did not require further treatment.

PC Darren Dawson said: “The road will remain closed in both directions for one to two hours because of the heavy recovery required for the bus.

“I would appeal for witnesses to contact the Suffolk police HQ in Martlesham on 101.”

The EADT/Star reporter on the scene Tom Potter said both drivers appeared to have had a lucky escape.

The school coach was travelling towards Tunstall while the silver Ford Focus was going in the opposite direction towards Rendlesham.

Both vehicles have been left in the trees and hedges which line the road.
