Ellie, 18, was behind the wheel of a silver Ford Ka when it collided with a lorry in a lay-by on the eastbound carriageway of the road at Bucklesham between the Seven Hills and Kirton junctions last Wednesday.

Emergency services were called at 11.35pm, but Ellie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family has today issued a tribute to Ellie, from Felixstowe.

The statement said: “Thank you for the overwhelming amount of support we have received over the past few days. We, the family, have taken great comfort in seeing and reading everyone’s personal tributes.

“Ellie was a loving, caring, happy and smiley girl whose infectious personality clearly touched a huge amount of people.

“We would like everyone and anyone who knew Ellie to be involved with celebrating her life at the funeral, a date for which is still unknown.”

A spokesman from the Felixstowe Academy, where Ellie had been a pupil, said: “Staff and students were deeply saddened surrounding the tragic events involving former student Ellie Nixon.

“Everyone that knew Ellie has spoken of her amazing presence with her peers and the positive contribution she made to our community.

“Students and staff are taking time to reflect upon this sad news, but as a community we want to pass our thoughts and condolences to Ellie’s family.”

  • jlumpkin - No-one has said that this horrific accident was due to use of a mobile unless you specifically know otherwise. Therefore, please don't speculate and cause the family and friends even more pain.
