A lorry carrying chicken litter overturned on the A12 roundabout for Melton

Delays are expected to continue as fuel and chicken manure is cleared away from an overturned lorry on an A12 roundabout.

The A12 near Woodbridge was re-opened late yesterday afternoon after a lorry carrying chicken litter overturned.

But the Melton Hill roundabout, where the incident took place at about 1.30pm, was still being cleaned and re-assessed earlier today.

A police spokesman said he expected the roundabout to be closed for motorists travelling on the northbound carriageway trying to go to Melton until mid-morning.

Suffolk police received reports at about 1.40pm that a lorry had overturned yesterday, leaving the diesel and chicken litter in the road.

Around 21 tonnes of manure and a large quantity of diesel spilt onto the road and motorists faced delays as a result.

  • The road would of probably been open a lot quicker if the recovery company actually sent a big enough recovery truck and equipment to cope in the first place!
