Mobile phone users in a large part of Felixstowe are without signal after a lorry crashed into a supply box.

The “significant damage” to the equipment has left Vodafone customers in three areas of the resort – including Old Felixstowe and the town centre – unable to get 4G or 3G and in some areas have no service at all.

One frustrated user said the signal had suddenly disappeared during the cold snap last week.

He said: “All our family are on Vodafone so it is very frustrating. Go out of Felixstowe and the signal is perfect.”

A Vodafone UK spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry if some of our customers are experiencing issues with their coverage at the moment.

“Unfortunately, a lorry hit one of our cabins, and in the process, significantly damaged the power equipment supplying three of our sites in the area. We are working hard to restore services as soon as possible.”
