There are delays on the A12 at Martlesham after an accident involving a car and a van just after 7am.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway between Main Road and Ipswich Road and left lane two blocked.

A Suffolk police spokeswoman said the crash was non-injury and recovery was ongoing.

Officers were called to the B1112 at Eriswell shortly after to reports of a car leaving the road and ending up on its roof.

The male driver was pulled out and an ambulance was called to attend to his minor injuries.

Motorists are being urged to drive sensibly in the weather conditions.

The spokeswoman added: “We are advising people to give themselves plenty of time for their journey and only travel if it is essential.

“Ensure windows and headlights are cleared of snow, wear suitable clothing in case of their car breaking down, have a hot drink with you and a spade in case of getting stuck.”
