Parks in Ipswich have closed early today over fears of injury caused by the high winds.

Many parks and open spaces don’t have lockable entrances and the council has advised people to take extra care in those areas because of the possibility of trees being damaged.

Ipswich Borough Council also closed the town’s cemeteries at 2.30pm because of the winds.

  • OK, let's examine this...."parks have closed". What? How did that happen? Parks are managed areas of grassland, pasture, wilderness and sports facilities and are not sentient beings. They cannot make a decision to opencloseexpandretreat etc etc. IBC manages the parks in Ipswich and that entity alone bears all responsibility. The simple addition of the word "have", as in "have been closed" would have saved the day!

  • With closing the parks you are depriving dog owners of a toilet for their beloved pets. This means they will have to defecate on the surround ing footpaths instead, most unfair.
