Westbourne Academy in Ipswich has been given a boost by the Tennis Foundation after being selected for training, funding and facilities in the School of Tennis programme.

Thanks to the funding, the school has been able to invest in brand new tennis courts, nets and equipment, while PE teachers have been given development training to deliver a variety of versions of the game. Ipswich Sports Club’s tennis manager Sam Scowen has also carried out sessions with pupils.

Lindsay Annandale, PE teacher at Westbourne Academy added: “This programme has allowed us as staff to learn new activities and ways of delivering tennis to large groups of children.

“In lessons, students have been engaged and have all been able to make good progress in a fun and exciting environment.

“The students involved have been very positive about the experience they have received.”
