Woman in serious condition after suffering cardiac arrest in New Look in the Buttermarket

Two shoppers in Ipswich revived a woman in her 20s after she suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday afternoon.

Paramedics were called at around 2.30pm to the New Look store in the Buttermarket.

Two women who witnessed the incident were first on the scene, and performed CPR while paramedics were on their way.

The pair managed to revive the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, before leaving her in the care of paramedics.

She was taken to Ipswich Hospital by land ambulance in a serious condition, an ambulance spokesman said.

Three ambulances and two police cars were called to the incident.

Crew from the Essex Air Ambulance, believed to have landed in Christchurch Park, also attended the scene.

An East of England Ambulance Service Trust spokesman said: “She remains in a serious condition.

“A land ambulance took the woman to Ipswich Hospital.”

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “Emergency services were called because a woman had been taken ill.”
