An Ipswich woman who has spent the last couple of months in prison wished a judge a “Merry Christmas” when he ordered her release from prison today.

Marquitta McKenzie, 32, was arrested and remanded in custody after a police raid at her home in Pelican Close during which heroin and cocaine were found, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

She admitted two charges of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin on September 17 and was sentenced to a two year prison sentence suspended for two years.

Judge Rupert Overbury also made her the subject of a 12-month drug rehabilitation order and a 30-day rehabilitation activity order.

Sentencing her he said she was motivated to comply with the terms of a drug rehabilitation order, adding: “I’m going to give you this opportunity. If you don’t want to take it we will soon know and you will be going back to prison.”
