Woman trapped behind door in her home rescued by firefighters

An elderly woman had to be rescued by firefighters in Ipswich during the early hours of the morning after she became trapped behind a door in her home.

A crew from the Princes Street station attended the incident in Sandown Road, at 2.51am.

A spokeswoman from the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the woman had fallen close to the door which could not be opened and she could not get up.

“We sent a crew to help get the door open so that her family could get to her,” she said

The scheme is part of a nationwide campaign launching today to improve signal.
