Police are warning parents to remain vigilant after reports of slow moving cars approaching children

Police are warning parents to remain vigilant after reports of slow moving cars approaching children

Parents urged to remain vigilant

PARENTS have been advised to remain vigilant after reports of cars driving slowly and close to children, causing them to become frightened.

Suffolk police have handed out notices in Woodbridge following two separate incidents.

A spokesman for the Constabulary confirmed officers were investigating but said there could well be an innocent explanation.

The notice issued to parents and guardians reads: “Police have received two separate reports in Woodbridge recently regarding the actions of drivers and occupants in cars driving slowly and close to children causing them to become frightened.

“There has been no physical attempts to get the children into the cars and no physical contact.

“Officers are investigating these incidents to establish the motives of those involved.

“As a precaution please be vigilant particularly in the evenings. Know where your children are and who they are with.”

One of the incidents happened around 7.20pm on Tuesday in Nelson Way, Woodbridge, when two men in a black VW - possibly a Golf - with darkened windows sounded their horn and drove past two boys aged 10 and eight.

Both the driver and passenger are described as white males in their early 40s with a tanned complexion. The driver is described as having straight brown curly hair which curled at the back, brown eyes, a moustache and an earring with a bright red dot in the middle. The passenger is described as having short brown hair, brown eyes and a star shaved into the right hand side of his hair.

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Sgt Andrew Buck at the Woodbridge and District Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.

  • Incredibly detailed description of both driver and passenger even down to eye colour and earring detail, thats amazing given they were in a moving vehicle and in the dark!
