A man who was involved in a violent incident inside a takeaway restaurant in Ipswich has been locked up for 15 months

The incident started when Tarim Chowdhury went into the takeaway chicken shop in Nacton Road and hit Ashra Williams in September last year.

Chowdhury left the premises and was then set upon by a group of people including Williams, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

A woman who was with her 12-year-old son and witnessed the violence, which lasted two or three minutes, described Chowdhury being on the ground in the foetal position and being kicked.

Chowdhury, 20, of no fixed address, admitted affray and breach of a criminal behaviour order and was sentenced to 15 months youth detention.

Williams, 19, of Mile Cross Lane, Norwich, admitted affray and was given a three month community order and a ten week curfew.

Paul Donegan for Chowdhury said his client had struck Williams twice in the shop and when he went outside he was attacked by a group of five men.

Andrew Oliver for Williams said his client hadn’t been in any more trouble since the incident.
