Huddersfield v Ipswich: Carlos Edwards has called on Ipswich Town to be more professional as they prepare for a Huddersfield Town backlash in West Yorkshire on Saturday.

Both teams head into the game on the back of midweek defeats, but Town’s 2-0 home reversal to Watford was far less significant than the Terriers’ 6-1 humbling at Nottingham Forest.

The game was new Huddersfield boss Mark Robins’ first league match in charge and followed Sunday’s 4-1 FA Cup drubbing at the hands of Wigan Athletic.

Robins claimed Tuesday night’s baptism of fire left him “the most embarrassed” he has ever been but Edwards knows Ipswich, also battling to avoid the drop, can’t rest on their laurels, despite the Terriers having won just one of their previous 16 Championship games.

“We need to have our heads on, stick to our game-plan, but be more professional in terms of our approach to the game, and how we go about getting a result,” said the Blues skipper.

“You can’t say this is a good time to play Huddersfield because we are in a similar position and we were always going to be talking about it being a tough game, whether they lost 1-0 or 6-1.

“It will be a right fight and will be one of those games where we have to dig deep, with every player on his game.

“It is not going to be easy and there will be an extra spark as they are coming home after being hammered at Nottingham Forest.

“They are down there fighting with us and need to put things right.”

Meanwhile, defender Richard Stearman is expected to be fit for Saturday’s clash, despite dislocating his finger in Tuesday night’s defeat.

The defender suffered the injury in the first half, colliding with Stephen Henderson, as he attempted to clear the ball from danger.

The finger was strapped until the end of the game before being put back in place, in hospital.
