IPSWICH Town have confirmed that captain Carlos Edwards has had his contract with the club extended until the summer of 2014.
The 34-year-old activated an extension clause in his contract last weekend when making his 30th start of the season in the 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers.
Edwards was brought to the Blues from Sunderland by Roy Keane in 2009, a joint-deal including Grant Leadbitter costing the club £4m.
The former Trinidad and Tobago international has made more than 150 appearances for the Blues during his three-and-a-half years at the club.
The first Wednesday night of the 2013 Suffolk Cycle Racing Series (SCRS) took place at Trinity Park.

I got up this morning went to PC to find who ITFC had signed before 11pm expecting at least two players a fast winger & Midfield general who could turn defence into attack with one sensible pass, what have we got to cheer about ? An on loan keeper who is no better than Loach !! What's happened to all the targets we were told about who were contacted & wished to sign DL Campbell,Frimfrong,O'keefe,Zubar,Coppinger Pearce, & several others.too many to mention We need players who want to win for ITFC not loanees who have nothing to lose either way !!

westozblu- you seem to forget or not realise most of the dross written on here is from wind up merchants or seriously depressed individuals who moan about ITFC and life in general.

There are so many expert and experienced managers commenting on this site, from the Tedious Twosome downwards, that one has to wonder how they seem to manage not to be offered lucrative contracts by some of our top clubs.

Of course he would activate that clause - it guarantees his (probably high) wages for another 17 months or a big contract settlement payout. He knows he is not going to get the same wages from any other club at his age. A good servant over the years but is not (and never was), captain material.

On my visits to the UK over the last 2 years I've seen 5 games at PR - Carlos has always appeared a class above some of the dross wearing the blue shirts. Am I missing something ?

Don't worry Mick, you haven't got to pick him. Keep looking for someone who can play football. We are patient by nature.

This is why I keep an eye on comments on here. They always so intelligent and inciteful. Now where is that prozac?

He's probably hoping to get his contract paid up early like most of our lame duck so called stars before him. He was always going to trigger the extension because he knows no other side at this level would want him !

Oh no! Do you think we'll find a position he can play in before his contract expires?
