Bersant Celina may have scored his third goal in three games for Ipswich Town, but the Manchester City loanee was quick to praise Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner after the Blues’ 3-0 win over Preston.

Celina powered in Ipswich’s third after galloping down the right flank following an exchange with Jordan Spence, adding to Waghorn’s strike and a superb header from David McGoldrick.

Having raised the roof at Burton by curling home a last-minute free-kick winner, there was a murmur of expectation as the Blues won a set-piece on the edge of the box in the closing minutes of the first half.

But Celina yielded to Waghorn, who curled into the back of the net, with the flying winger insisting he was happy to hand over free-kick duty.

“He felt confident,” Celina said. “I trust him and he trusts me so I said ‘take it’.

“It’s not as if we’re going to argue about it because he’s a great free-kick taker and I trust him.”

Garner is now on a run of six games without a goal but Celina insisted the former Preston man is still playing a vital role.

“Seeing someone as small as him fight with big defenders is amazing. That’s why he’s in the team every week.

“He’s good with his feet and he’s just great for the team.”

But while happy to praise his team-mates, Celina was also delighted to find the net himself.

He said: “I’m feeling great, have been working hard and I’m just really happy we got the win and the three points.

“We knew it was going to be (scrappy) and that was in our game plan, making it hard for them, and I think it worked.

“We are (close to getting a run going) and if we keep working hard like we did today then we will win games.”
