Huddersfield v Ipswich: The Blues earned a valuable point against fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town, following a 0-0 draw in West Yorkshire.
In a game of few chances, Daryl Murphy had Ipswich’s only shot on target with a tame effort that was saved by Alex Smithies.
Late on, Huddersfield defender Peter Clarke blocked Carlos Edwards’ testing cross bravely with Frank Nouble steaming into finish into an empty net.
The hosts enjoyed the better of the possession during the game and Stephen Henderson made a good double save from Lee Novak and Neil Danns in the second half.
“It was a battle. It was never going to be a pretty football game, looking at the way the pitch cuts up, and as a back four we are pleased to come away with a point,” said defender, Tommy Smith.
Ipswich Town’s average attendance dropped by almost 800 this season but the signs are there that the club could be ready to buck the downward trend of recent years.

Why are so many people happy with 1 point, If we were higher up the table and not tightrope walking the drop zone then 1 point is ok, but we are in deep here and need the 3 points. COYB

Old Timer,if my spelling mistake or (typing error) has offended you in any way, then I'm very sorry. But after giving your post considerable thought I find it very hard as to why you are so critical of my spelling error.I was directing my post to a certain person on this page who day in and day out delivers verbal diarrhoea to our club and posters in general,so I cannot understand why YouHave decided to have a go at me personally.(do you hold a grudge).By the way the mention of a dictionary was for the BIG words he uses,NOT his spelling may I add. After all the diarrhoea we receive from this poster, who may I state was having a go at me for a post that was not even sent to him.To conclude this post I am coming to the conclusion that you may be changing your colour if you can side with him for having a dig at an Ipswich supporter defending the club. There are many posters on this site who have requested him to be removed, but not you it appears.Old Timer, perhaps when you find time you would like to correct my punctuation.ALL GOOD FUN.COYB.great point on Saturday, keep up the good work MM,true Ipswich supporters are behind you,

We are 4 points clear, brisie is right, but 3 teams below us have games in hand, if they all win we are back in the poop. Time to stand toe to toe and get some better results.

brisie58 - if you're right & we've got 'god cover' I would suggest this might be the time to give him a run out !!!!!!!!! Picking all these loanees instead of our own players is one thing - but if they're keeping god out of the team I think it's taking the philosophy too far ?????

What a couple of no nothing's Stereo and Scott are on here. another excellent point gained thanks to MM concentrating on the fundamentals. Ie get the defence sorted and work from there. Micks proved his credentials getting Sunderland and Wolves promoted and Ireland to the latter stages of the World Cup Finals. The idea is to stay up and kick on next season..Ignore the knockers MM. you are doing a top job

I get really fed up with all these negative comments.Look, when MM took over we were bottom,he has now steered us to four points clear of the drop zone. The defence is now sound with god cover. We have five or so strikers who should be sorting goals but are not getting the service from midfield, but if the players are to available then what does Mick do,does he get in rubbish or wait till the summer.I feel what he is doing is correct .Ok the football is not pretty, but we are grinding out points .As long as we are not relegated I don't see a problem.MM will be judged next season not on how we play now.We were never going to play good football while we are in this position.

No goals for No Loans who will no doubt be delighted with the mythical 'clean sheet' although Offshore Investment FC appear to be reinventing the crass phrase to describe 90 sterile mins in which their hotchpotch of loaned in reject 'strikers' (hoho) fails to trouble the opposing defence. Meanwhile Scotland scored again. Rhodes was the appalling Keane's nemesis ... the rather more prosaic Yorkshire Jewell has created his own epitaph with his hollow words and insane discarding of Scotland without even giving him a chance... such arrogance, such crass stupidity.

An awful game played by one team aiming to win the match and another trying to stop them from playing football. Huddersfield are hardly a Cardiff or Watford so with difficult games against Leicester, Forest and Peterborough why didn't we try and win this game. again the emphasis for a striker who can score goals was clearly demonstrated by a lacklustre strike force

Good away point in a scrappy match, a few monthes ago we would have lost it. So well done Mick McCarthy for pulling the team out of the relegation zone, still a fight-on to stay up but with TRUE fans behind the team they can make it.

How can anyone be happy with this appalling performance, only if they have escaped from the loony bin. Mccarthy is the biggest disgrace of all because since he took over the standard of football in towns matches has sunk to new depths that I never realised were possible. A manager who is a total hypocrite and who seems to know nothing about the truth whatsoever and also about football. An owner who has destroyed the good name of Ipswich and has assigned 3 total clowns as managers. Things are very depressing at portman road and only look like getting alot worse with relegation and the abyss!!!

All last year j was looking forward to going to this game as I live up north in sheffield but I am so thankful I did not. The last game I was thankful I did not turn up to was Blackpool earlier this year and wow we had one scruffy attempt on target . We're doomed we're not good enough for this league at all . Valuable point? More like a shocking performance

Poor, sad, awful, hopeless ITFC, who managed a single attempt on goal in a match in the Championship sewer. Can someone please propose a new name for this appalling outfit, who bear no resemblance whatsoever to the team that used to grace the Ipswich turf in days gone by? The invisible man's repellant yes-men claim ownership of the club's 150 year history. Get yer hands off, you frauds!
