Defender Adam Webster insists the heavy snow and freezing temperatures have not disrupted Ipswich Town’s plans for this weekend’s game with Hull.

The Blues are due to face the Tigers on Saturday afternoon, but with further snow forecast between now and the weekend there are real concerns over whether or not the game will go ahead.

Mick McCarthy and his players have trained as normal at their Playford Road base this week, with defender Webster insisting he and his team-mates are hoping the game goes ahead and want to play despite the conditions.

“Definitely, we all want the game to be on so we’re preparing right, just like we always do,” the defender said.

“It’s just another game so we don’t have to change anything, although there might be a few more long-sleeved shirts out.

“It hasn’t disrupted things too much but obviously it isn’t ideal.

“Everyone enjoys it for the first day and then you just want it to go away, but hopefully it can settle down a bit.

“It hasn’t stopped our preparations at all and we’ll prepare in exactly the same way so it shouldn’t stop us.

“We had three games in six days last week so obviously we needed a little bit of time to recover from that, but everything’s been fine since.”

Webster, 23, has yet to play in a game disrupted by snow during his young career but is no stranger to matches played in cold weather

“You don’t really notice it when you’re playing but if you come out at half-time and you’re waiting for the other team then that’s hard,” he said.

“But if you’re straight out and straight into it then that’s fine.”

If Saturday’s game does go ahead, the Blues will be looking to build on last week’s victory at Preston, with Webster pleased with how his side have performed in recent weeks.

“It was a good win against a good team who had been on an unbelievable run so we knew it would be tough but it’s a massive win for us after the two games prior (1-1 draw with Norwich and 1-0 loss to Cardiff) in which we were a little disappointed,” he said.

“We felt we should have had more points on the board but the performances were very good so we didn’t get too down about it because we had been playing well.

“It was only a matter of time before we got the win that we deserved.”
