Ipswich Town’s away league game against Derby County has been rearranged for Tuesday, November 28.

The Blues had been scheduled to face the Rams this coming Tuesday, but the match was postponed little more than a week ago due to the fact Gary Rowett’s side must squeeze in a Carabao Cup tie that night.

It means Ipswich will be heading to the iPro Stadium in between a trip to Aston Villa and visit of Nottingham Forest.

Derby are playing catch-up with their cup games after their first round tie at Grimsby was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch. They had been due to play their second round tie against Barnsley on September 19, the date of the third round games in the competition, but the EFL have brought that match forward a week in order to make sure the winners can play Tottenham in the scheduled week for third round matches.

Spurs – who are playing their home games at Wembley this season – have Champions League games on September 13 and September 26 so must play their Carabao Cup tie the week in between.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy said: “I’m not unduly worried about that. It takes another game out of the equation that Tommy, Chambo and Webbo. Maybe even Emyr Huws, could be back for.

“Honestly, I was kind of pleased about that. That doesn’t break my heart. We had a real tough start and that kind of suits us.

“I feel for sorry for the fans who have paid for travel, but if we were to go to QPR (tomorrow) and get two or three injuries we’d have been going there on a Tuesday night with 12/13 players which would be bonkers. It suits me fine.”

Town managing director Ian Milne said: “It’s very frustrating for all concerned, especially our supporters given the short notice but we have no influence on the decision at all. It’s completely out of our hands.”

An EFL spokesperson said: “The EFL would like to apologise to the clubs involved and importantly the supporters of those teams for any inconvenience caused.”

Meanwhile, Cardiff City duo Neil Warnock and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing pipped Mick McCarthy and Martyn Waghorn to the Championship manager-of-the-month and player-of-the-month awards respectively.

Cardiff have a 100% league record, with winger Mendez-Laing having scored five goals since a summer move from Rochdale.

Episode One: Stuart Watson and Andy Warren discuss Ipswich Town’s draw at Hull City, hear from Mick McCarthy and Jordan Spence and make the first pitches for football’s Room 101.

Jordan Spence has been telling his Ipswich Town team-mates just how much of a threat he is in front of goal - and the defender is delighted to be proving his point on the field.

“We might not be the best, but we keep going. It’s an endearing quality we have.”

Watch match highlights of Ipswich Town’s 2-2 draw at Hull City on Saturday.

A point at Hull City should not be seen as anything other than a good result ordinarily and the fact that we gained that point with a late equaliser certainly felt better than a loss. But were they not there for the taking on the day?

It was certainly an eventful day for David McGoldrick.

Jordan Spence believes his late leveller at Hull shows the character of the Ipswich Town squad.
