Ipswich made it 1-0 in the 18th minute when Naylor headed home from a Mark Venus free-kick to give Town the lead.

Two minutes later Naylor turned provider, as his cushioned header allowed Johnson to unleash a left-foot thunderbolt to give Town a 2-0 goal lead with just 20 minutes on the clock.

The third goal came in the 71st minute after a one-touch interchange between Scowcroft and Johnson ended with the former finishing decisively to ensure a flying start to the year.
