Ipswich Town striker David McGoldrick has picked up a knee injury on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
The 29-year-old was handed his sixth cap and played the full 90 minutes of last Thursday’s 3-1 friendly defeat to Mexico, in America, then was named as an unused substitute in Sunday’s 3-1 home victory over Uruguay.
The silky front man, who has endured two injury ravaged years at Portman Road, missed training this morning due to a problem behind his knee and Ireland manager Martin O’Neill is waiting on the results of a scan.
He is a doubt ahead of a World Cup qualifier against Austria, in Dublin, on Sunday.
“David has had a niggle behind his knee which has come on a little bit,” O’Neill said. “It is niggly and we are a bit concerned about it.”
