Ipswich Town have been linked with a move for free agent Danny Guthrie in a bid to help ease their midfield injury crisis.

The Blues have been rocked by season-ending injuries to Teddy Bishop (hamstring) and Emyr Huws (knee) recently, while the likes of Cole Skuse, Tom Adeyemi, Luke Hyam, Tristan Nydam and Flynn Downes have also been sidelined. Teenage star Andre Dozzell is also out for the season with a knee problem.

But Mick McCarthy is considering signing Guthrie, who is currently without a club, until the end of the season to help cover the ailing engine room.

Guthrie, 30, played 27 games for Blackburn last season, scoring one goal.

He’s also played for the likes of Newcastle, Bolton, Reading and Fulham in his career.
