FORMER British number one Elena Baltacha has vowed to bow out from tennis on her terms after returning from five months out injured.

The 29-year-old underwent a successful operation on her right ankle, shortly after the Olympics, and is now ready for to join the ladies’ circuit again.

However, things were not plain sailing for the Ipswich-based player who contemplated retiring after falling out of love with tennis for a while.

Last week, as she made her long-awaited return to training, Ipswich Star photographer Andrew Partridge was on hand to snap the Kiev-born Scot in action.
