If you are still reading then you might be interested in the year-long test that martial art-mad twins, Kenna and Perry Jordan Finch are set to embark on.

The 12-year-old sisters, who attend Felixstowe Academy are preparing to start the Ultimate Black Belt test - the brainchild of American sixth degree black belt, Tom Callos.

While much of the black belt test is physical, Callos decided to add extra elements including “individual enlightenments towards the benefit of our families and communities”.

The youngsters’ year-long test will see them have to complete 1,000 repetitions of their chosen Kata and a gruelling exercise regime, which also includes a sponsored walk, run or swim.

But that’s not the half of it.

They will also have to complete 1000 acts of kindness, right three wrongs, profile 10 living heroes and read 12 inspiring books.

Their dad, Wayne, who is the instructor at Universal Fighting Concepts, which holds “Kombat” classes at Castle Hill Community Centre on Thursdays, said: “The girls will have to keep a journal.

“It will aid their personal development and they will really have to work for the belts.

“It takes a certain type of person to complete this test.

“Karate is not just about kicking and punching and this requires them to be the best person they can be.”
