A huge crowd packed into Foxhall Stadium to watch the Brisca F1 Championship of the World at the weekend, writes Dean Cox.
Fans flocked to the famous old stadium from all over the UK, Europe and from as far afield as New Zealand to watch the 64th running of the event.
The meeting got underway with the last chance qualifying race for the World Final, which saw a win for Neil Scriven which seeded both himself and second placed Luke Davidson into the big race.
Heat two saw again plenty of action before Aaron Leach emerged the winner and then the build up to the World Championship commenced in brief late summer sunshine.
The driver introductions had the enthusiastic crowd cheering their favourites before pole sitters Nigel Green and Dan Johnson led the cars away on the rolling lap.
At the drop of the green flag, Green took the lead whilst behind chaos ensued on the Kent Cams Bend as a ten car pile-up brought out a race stoppage.
With the wreckage cleared, the race got underway again and for the second time, Green took the lead but he was not to have it all his way.
Dutchman Jan Kuin lunged at him, striking the rear of the Green car and momentarily the crowd gasped as Green fought to bring his machine back under control.
Further back, defending champion Frankie Wainman Junior was making good progress through the field whilst Ryan Harrison dispatched of Johnson to claim the second position.
But Harrison could not make it count on tarmac racing specialist Green, who went on to take his first world title with the hard-charging Harrison second and Wainman third as the pyrotechnics lit up the Stadium.
Heat three followed with another win for Scriven before Stuart Smith took an incredibly fast and spectacular Grand Final and likewise Frankie Wainman Junior claimed the Grand National race.
National Ministox also entertained on the bill with wins going to Jensen Brickley, Tyrone Evans, Chloe Serpall and Jack Witts to send the fans home entertained.
