NON-LEAGUE duo Jordy Nkunga and Ade Yusuff will be given another chance to impress the Ipswich Town management at Queens Park Rangers, this weekend.

Defender Nkunga, who has been impressing at Evo-Stik Southern Premier side, St. Neots, and striker, Yussef, who recently left the Saints to join their league rivals, Banbury, turned out for Town’s under-21s team in their 4-3 win over Colchester on Monday night, having already trained with the club.

The duo, both 19, are full-time students at Kettering-based Tresham Academy and represent the under-21 development squad there, playing in the Conference Reserve League.

They both held their own in the game, in which Frank Nouble scored a hat-trick for the hosts, and made a significant enough impact, under the watchful eyes of Mick McCarthy, Terry Connor and the Blues’ Under-21 coach Mark Kennedy, to be named in Saturday’s squad.

Yusuff was at Stevenage, before being released in April, while Nkunga has had spells at Midlands outfits, Walsall and West Brom.

Fellow trialist Victor Zapata-Caicedo featured for the reserves from the bench, the Tottenham Hotspurs youngster having spent the week training with the club at Playford Road.

The Colombian-born striker was brought up in Hackney and scored a hat-trick in Spurs’ recent under-18s game, against West Brom, a game they won 4-0.

  • This is surely the way Town should go in the future and thankfully with a new scouting system in place, unknown talent will finally be noticed!

  • Hmmmm - if only talented youngsters WERE given a chance... alas this trial represents little more than a half chance...even if they are good enough to take on they face the prospect of being ignored so that No Loans can shuffle his ridiculous pack of loanees.
