EAST Anglian rivals Norwich City have pipped Ipswich Town to the signing of Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp.

The EADT understands that the 28-year-old – having agreed a settlement with Forest over the remaining few months of his contarct – is currently on his way to Carrow Road to complete and medical ahead of a free transfer switch.

Having seen Stephen Henderson’s loan spell from West Ham come to an end, Town boss Mick McCarthy had made Camp his number one keeper target.

The Northern Ireland international – who made three appearances on loan for the Canaries in 2006 – has decided to move to the Premier League Canaries though, with England international John Ruddy currently sidelined through injury.

Meanwhile, Town striker Jason Scotland, who has agreed a contract settlement with the Blues to leave Portman Road, is thought to be interesting Wolves and Doncaster.

  • Not sure how much truth in original EADT stories linking him to Town - so difficult to critisise him for going to our greatest rivals. My concern is what effect all this might have on Loach who has seen his loyalty to ITFC rewarded by stories constantly linking the club to mercenaries who would only come her for financial reasons. This combined with the departure of Scotland unfortunately reinforces the idea that our own players are rarely given the consideration afforded to loanees ???

  • Most teams at championship level and above have at least 3 goalkeepers, otherwise if one is injured then you've got nobody on the bench. We need a 3rd and if he's better than Loach then so be it. I quite liked Lee Camp but don't blame him for going to the Prem. We still need a keeper. Funny about Steroo's team taking what I think he called a "reject" though!

  • Great news,we don't need Lee Camp. Both our keepers are good enough, what we need are two wide players ,a midfielder with vision and cover for the two CB positions.that will be good enough to get us to the end of season, then MM can assess the situation which I'm sure he is already doing. We must give him the benefit of doubt and the owners, there is too much knocking going on and assumptions . • Same old, same old !!!!!!! Whilst the manager has changed it appears that the 'two wise men' who have overseen his predecessors are still in position and applying the same old 'go slow' policies of the past. Same old story as when PJ was interested in 3 Portsmouth players during the Summer.

  • Or is it the eadt giving us all false hopes again?Did MM actually admit he had tried to sign him? Other clubs seem to want offer better terms than we can .But i am sure Mick will sort it out.We are lucky to have him!!!

  • Why join a struggling Championship team when you can go to the premeirship it is not the ITFC management to blame for all players that do not join us !!!! Paper talk of transfers is different from players agents and teams management talking. Also have to remember that next season the finances have to match up or teams will be penalised it is a business now sorry to say football is secondary.

  • You cant balme him, he been offered PL football, if hes happy being Ruddys understudy thats fair enough. Sadly as it stand Norwichs position means they can offer far better terms than us. I dont think you can balme the club. He has an oppotunity to try and make an impact in the PL and he took it over championship football. Whats is amusing is steroos team have signed a player i belive he refferd to as a reject so I bet hes in a good mood

  • Of course he'd rather play for a Premiership side, no reflection at all on the ITFC management.

  • So what? I don't think we needed Lee Camp anyway. Good outcome in my eyes. 1 point in 18....he will probably be back in the Championship next season sat on City's bench instead of ours. No loss whatsoever. Next...
