PLAYER’S REACTION: We could have claimed all three points in “scrappy” match says Lee Martin

PUBLISHED: 18:30 24 November 2012

Ipswich v Peterborough: Lee Martin believes Town showed “in patches” that they have the ability to move away from the bottom three after today’s 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Peterborough.

After woefully under-performing in the first half, the Blues booed off at half-time after going behind to Lee Tomlin’s opener, Town fought back to claim a point through DJ Campbell’s 59th minute penalty.

Summing up the game, Martin said: “It was scrappy, we are playing with low confidence at the moment.

“But I thought we could have nicked it, although it was quite open and could have gone either way. We will take the point, it stops the rot and we move onto Tuesday (a home match against Nottingham Forest).

“The first half was edgy but in the second half we showed in patches what we are capable of.”

Martin accepted that confidence is arguably Town’s biggest opponent at the moment, adding:

“The confidence is a difficult thing – we have been down this road before.

“We played good football at times but then conceding, it has caught up on us. It is down to us – we have lost it and now we need to get it back.

“We have to dig deep, work together and try and conjure something up.”
