WITH just six minutes on the clock, Stowmarket had a try disallowed by the referee, after the hosts’ scrum-half’s kick was charged down.

With all the attacking options being taken by Stowmarket, Holt at times were struggling to get back. On one such occasion a runner impeded that attacking play and a penalty was awarded. Tom Searles scored the penalty.

The next points came when Holt were awarded a penalty and kicked the ball deep for a penalty some ten metres from the visitors’ try line.

The ball was thrown to four in the line and the drive put on, eventually the ball was grounded followed by a successful conversion.

Holt scored the next points, this time after a penalty for offside.

The only other occurrence of the first half was a yellow card for Stowmarket second row Nick Shore.

In the second half, Stowmarket’s Tim Mann then cut a fantastic angle back in and accelerated across the Holt line, for a converted try.

Mann was involved in the next score.

With the ball won, it was passed through several players before ending with Dan Garrard who scored.

Holt gained a lineout close to the away try line and unsurprisingly the ball was caught and the drive put on. The result was a try.

It looked like Stowmarket would be going home with a well-deserved win but Holt had other ideas and were awarded a penalty 30 metres out.

The ball was struck cleanly to give Holt the victory.
