Another successful away trip for high flying Stowmarket as they continued their fine start to the season with another well-deserved victory.
Despite again being outsized and outweighed upfront this game was again proof that organisation, fitness and a good team ethic can easily counter this disadvantage.
From the start the Stowmarket forwards showed that they were going to be more than capable of providing the dangerous backs with a very good supply of quality ball.
This was also combined with L&Y kicking any ball they won back to Stowmarket, and it was only a matter of time till a crisp handling move saw centre Scott Milton complete a move started on the half-way line.
There followed a steady stream of further tries from Joe Fifield and Milton again. A further sweeping move saw blind side winger Nick Faliveno come all the way to the other side of the park to steal a try from 1st XV debutant Diogo Pina.
From the subsequent kick off the Stowmarket prop Ben Honeyball was hit in the air and forced to leave the field resulting in L&Y number 8 getting 10 minutes in the bin.
Further attacking play saw fly-half Tom Crowe touch down. This concluded the tries from the first half and with fullback Dan Garrard kicking several, Stowmarket led 31-0 at the break.
The second half continued in much the same fashion, but saw L&Y tiring badly and gaps appearing on a regular basis, allowing powerful centre Milton to add two further tries and partner Max Crowe three of his own.
This was interspersed with additional tries from fullback Garrard, hooker Jake Squirrell, winger Faliveno again, and back row replacement Alex (Bob) Lancaster.
It was very good the see that despite several changes from the previous week Stowmarket could continue to play the same wide game that has been their hallmark this season.
This season has shown more depth to the Stowmarket squad than we have enjoyed for several seasons, and yet again there are several unavailable, giving further opportunities for the squad to be revolved again.
