We asked the people of Ipswich whois to blame for Ipswich Town’s current dismal run of form.
Here is what they said:
Name: Aaron Caley, 20
From: Cranberry Square, Ipswich
Comment: “Simon Clegg is partly to blame but Paul Jewell needs to play more younger players and stop changing the team. It’s like Norwich a few years ago and I think we will get relegated.”
Name: Martin Patience, 47
From: Riverside Road, Ipswich
Comment: “I don’t think it’s Paul Jewell’s fault because any manager would have struggled with the situation. I think Marcus Evans should have given him more funds to work with.”
Name: Matt Malecki, 33
From: London Road, Ipswich
Comment: “I think it’s the players’ fault. They are not showing enough fight or passion. They should be fighting in every game but I don’t see that. They need to show more spirit to get us going again.”
Name: James Whittingham, 25
From: Roman Way, Felixstowe
Comment: “I think Paul Jewell should stay. I don’t think it’s his fault. I think he is the right man to get us up the league. He has given younger players a go and needs more time.”
Name: Owen Rachel, 23
From: Fishbane Close, Ipswich
Comment: “Paul Jewell is mostly to blame. The transfer policy he has employed has been abysmal. Signing Lee Bowyer speaks for itself. There are too many players on loan as well.”
Name: Colin Rivers, 43
From: Queen’s Road, Felixstowe
Comment: It’s not working with the manager but he should be given more time to turn it around.
“But the players could also play better for him.”

Cyril, why not get off your backside and actually visit PR for once instead of sitting with your ears glued to the radio and see for yourself the last rites being administered to ITFC by a collection of incompetent clowns.

Paul Jewell should now leave, he needs to get rid of all loan players and play Ipswich Town contract players. They have signed to a club they want to play for, but Jewell thinks they are not good enough, how must they feel week in week out watching from the side lines, take Scott Loach, Jewell has tried to make him a fall guy when he was without doubt our best player. Will he now blame Henderson, Stockdale, McCarthy, Barret, Fullop, its a joke. In Loach we have No 1 that wants to be here hart and soul as do the contract players but Jewell is now making their stay untenable. Jewell must go

It is strange that the local comics encourage comments (mostly negative) on the plight of ITFC, but actively discourages comments on what most would say are more important issues. Also, of course, preventing comments on the dire plight of the local comics themselves (where two is often becoming one).

Just got the Derby result and have to say that even though i dont think it's all P.Js fault, i think its now time for him to go. Not getting the best out of the players he has got, and its as good a squad as any in the championship. Dont think the players have given theyr'e all at times either, but time now for a managerial change. Get some-one in to sort out the dead wood and move us on.

The outcome of tonight's game with the Rams is totally irrelevant, PJ has to go for all our sakes. His appointment has been an abject failure and there is no logical reason why things should now magically come right at the 11th hour.

Frank Weston - There is always room for mistakes in anyones working life, however there is a very true saying that you should also learn from them. Paul Jewell has consistently made the same mistakes over and over again, so there’s no sign of him having learned any lessons there. I’m afraid when anyone looks at the evidence in order to sum up the situation with Paul Jewell, it is overwhelming in favor of him being totally incompetent. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinions, but those that ignore this extremely strong evidence, is in my opinion, living in cloud cuckoo land. Until anyone can come up with strong evidence to the contrary, the balance against him remains cast in iron.

It would be easy to answer the question of who is to blame if we knew all the facts. One would presume the Manager picks the team and decides who should be signed, but it is ME who holds the purse strings added and abetted by the CEO, whom I presume he lets control all income and outgoings. If PJ is not allowed to sign who he wants and is told to get who he can, then it's down to the CEO and ME. If it's because PJ gets who he wants in , within reason, then it's his fault. If it's neither of these then it's either the guy who sells the programs or the chap on the burger van. But whoever it is wants a swift kick up the backside and told to sort it a.s.a.p.

i think it is a combination of lack of signings at the start of the season, young hungry lower divison players like Cresswell are the answer, but the main problem is a lack of organisation in defence they need to learn to defend as a team as well as attacking as a team !!!

Look at the long term results of ITFC under PJ. Now look at his results at Derby. 'nough said? Yes, Simon Clegg doesn't help and Marcus Evans' business plans for ITFC are shrouded in mystery. But a manager should have a strategy for his club and a fundamental system (style) he asks his players to play to. PJ has demonstrated he has neither regardless of what funds he's been given to spend.

Totally agree with MIGUEL100. This faceless person is using ITFC for Advertising only. If anyone on this Forum can prove to me how ITFC has improved in any way, shape or form since he took over the club I'll happily eat humble pie ! Paul Jewell is being made the whipping boy here. He has nothing to prove to anyone as he's " Been there, done that and worn the T-Shirt ". He identified some fine players for ITFC during the summer, but because Mr Advertising Man wouldn't fund the Transfers, none came ! Yes, his tactics during some matches have left a little to be desired, but come on guys, give the poor bloke a break, he's just trying to do the best he can with what he's got -- -- and let's face some reality here, he aint got a lot !!!!! I've supported ITFC for some 45 years now, and this current bunch of players are terrible. They sulk like babies when the other team score one against them, they show no back bone and no REAL desire to fight for the cause. There is one word to descibe these players -- Gutless. Prima Donnas come to mind as well !

Simon Clegg, Marcus Evans and Paul Jewell are all to blame and its a recipe for disaster! A CEO that doesn't have a clue about football and couldn't make a deal for a pizza deliery, a manager that's tactics and signings are abysmal not to mention his lack of motivation and inspirational skills! And last but not least Marcus Evans, the man who is never in the country and obviously cant see that the club is sinking to the lowest level in years, he claims he is an Ipswich fan but what Ipswich fan here would let the club fall into this state? Hes a disgrace and if he doesn't have time to see what is going on the 'GET OUT OF MY CLUB AND RUN YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE!'

Eadt, Kevin, Spartacus and all you other moaners including my friend Brian take note only 1 in 5 of those interviewed blame PJ hadly the majority of supporters as you would claim. Hardly a representative sample but certainly as reliable as the eadt polls.

Assuming you censor their views as rigorously as you censor the views supporters take the time and trouble to express on here - this article is not even worth reading.

Paul Jewell willingly admits that he is partly to blame for Town's disasterous showing since he took over but if you don't make mistakes you usually don't make anything and if the players apply themselves in the way we know they can, then we could rise up the table rapidly. A win tonight would be the perfect start!

Is this really a straw poll from people on the street, you really couldn't find that many people wanting Jewell out? Seems a bit of a balanced editorial if you ask me! An inner an outer and a hatful of I dunno what I want or who is to blame! I can't wait to see the headlines tomorrow morning after another embarrassing defeat has been handed to us!!
