Rotherham United boss Paul Warne says Kieffer Moore won’t be involved with Ipswich Town at Fulham tonight and that the Blues will sell the striker during the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old scored 13 goals for the promotion-chasing League One club, with the Blues activating a January recall clause in his season-long loan spell as a result.

• McCarthy: I’ve received no bids for Moore

Norwich-born Warne had previously said that he expected Moore to be in the Blues squad for their opening game of 2018, but speaking after his side’s 1-1 home draw with Blackburn yesterday he told reporters that Town won’t be including Moore in their squad at Craven Cottage as they plan to sell him.

He added that Rotherham, who have made a club record offer, are one of three clubs battling it out for the striker, who cost the Blues £20,000 when he was signed from Forest Green Rovers in January last year.

Charlton, Peterborough, Wigan, Scunthorpe and Bradford are believed to be among the other clubs interested in 6ft 5in tall front man.

• Warne: I don’t know what a ‘bonkers’ bid would be

Moore is contracted to Town until the end of the season with the club having a 12 month extension option should they wish to take it.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Warne said: “I know there are three other clubs in for him in our league. It’s not just us who know about him. He is scoring all the goals, so everyone knows him.

“We have got competition. Kieffer wants to come back. I texted him on Sunday and sent him his five best things he has done at the club.

“I am well aware of what an effect he had at the club, so if we can get him back we will.”

He continued: “We have got a much-improved bid in. I am led to believe it is one of the best. Ipswich will come back to us.

“In the ideal world, if I am not going to get Kieffer I would like to know now, but I have got a funny feeling it will drag on for a few weeks.

“There is room for negotiation, but we will go to what the value is and what we can spend. If someone comes in with crazy money, then we are not going to compete.

“If someone offers crazy money, they will back that up with crazy wages, and I am not going to have a player on double what the next best is on. I will not have that at this club.

“I am speaking to Mick every other day. Fans can rest easy that we are trying our best. If that isn’t good enough, then so be it.”
