Trailblazers Dressage gets a new lease of life

15:37 26 October 2012

Sunday saw an inspirational day of competing at the Trailblazers Dressage held at Lime Kiln Farm Equestrian Centre in Thursford.

From recovering injuries to starting over, Judge Dena Green was kept extremely busy throughout the day with a scattering of exceptional horses.

The first winner, Punjabi Army ridden by Alison Lee, was an ex-racer that had only been learning a new way of life for nine weeks before his win.

Sliding into second place was another ex-racehorse, Nemesio, ridden by Lucy Powell.

Intro B was won by a delighted Becky Tann and her Dutch bred mare L’Esterell. After five weeks off with lameness this was their first show back.

Rebecca Knowles and her lightweight coloured cob Jessie James were Prelim 4 winners, with another cob, Guy, ridden by Judith Johnson, in second place.

Prelim 14 was hotly contested. Kerry Wright and Rhainstorm Blue Beauty led the class from early on with a score of 63.33pc, only to be beaten by the final rider, Shelly Harwood and Ballyroe Rose, scoring 63.75pc. Molly Ryan, in her last year of juniors aboard Carngham Valley Echo, topped the line in Novice 24, ahead of Anne Cowley on Fenmarch Bess. Cowley went one better in Novice 36 to take the final class of the day.

• The West Norfolk Foxhounds will be holding their annual autumn Hunter Trial next Thursday.

Classes kick off at 10am starting with a ‘have a go round’ where classes will not exceed 0.55m.

By kind permission of Mr and Mrs Jewson, the event will take place at Dades Farm, Barnham Broom, NR9 4BT and the course will be open to walk between 2pm and 4pm on Wednesday. First entry is £8 plus £3 for paramedic cover. Following rounds will be charged at £10.
