IPSWICH Town have signed Nottingham Forest striker David McGoldrick on loan until the end of the season with view to a permanent move.
The 25-year-old – who joined Forest in a £1m move from Southampton in 2009 – has scored 16 goals in 22 league appearances on loan at League One side Coventry City this season.
He has been handed the No.16 shirt, with Town now facing a wait to see if the paperwork had been completed by today’s 12pm deadline to enable him to play at Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round tomorrow.
The above also applies to fellow new striker recruit Aaron McLean, the 29-year-old also having joined on loan until the end-of-the-season – though there is no mention of a future permanent move in his case.
The double signing calls into question whether DJ Campbell – who recently scored 10 goals in 17 appearances during a loan spell – will be back at Portman Road following his return to struggling Premier League parent club QPR.
– More to follow.
A local hockey player has been given an award by the Suffolk Hockey Association after scoring a staggering 43 goals for her team this season.

Don't get too excited Town fans!! This is a striker that has scored 45 goals in 192 senior games. Take away his spell in league one at Coventry and his record is 29 goals in 170 games!!

You sell a player for 8 million and then you hand the manager 8 million its that simple isn't it? It doesn't go on wages, loan fees or anything like that obviously.

A talented young lad who has lost his way at Forest over the last 3 years. Became a victim of the "boo boys" and 5th choice striker (in a relegation threatened team). Has refound his form (albeit in lge 1) with 16 goals in 22 games. Could be a flat track bully? Or could MM build on the confidence he must have gained on that scoring run?

Obviously MM needed to improve the squad but is is so disspointing that are owner will sttill not invest. He has never re invested the Wickham money. I had hoped that MM had been strong enough to ensure good money would have been made available.

I take it Ged Scott has never seen this player in action. Far to good for Div 1 and the best player I have seen play in Div 1 this season. People will sit up and take note when they see him in action and see how good he is at finishing. . It wil be Forests big loss just like it was with Ipswich with Jason Rhodes. Well done Mick who have signed a jewel.

Ged 'the budgie' and Rob Steroooooooo boo hoo are probably sitting at home sipping on tea chuckling happily together about how hilarious their comments are. Yawn. For me McGoldrick is a pretty useful signing and him and MacLean offer options! At Least McCarthy is signing people and viewing them for permanent deals to!

Typical negative comment from Scott and, I guess pretty soon, the other Norwich Idiot. Perhaps these players previous managerscoaches didn't get the best out of them in the same way Roy Keane and Paul Jewell didn't get the best out of the current team. Mick. McCarthy will certainly do a better job than the other two. Glass half full!

I presume these posts are moderated? Can the moderator do nothing about Ms Scott's appalling punctuation, and her rudeness: it's McCarthy, not maccarthy. Ipswich supporters are intelligent, literate and articulate. They should not be so regularly insulted.

Today's quality signing shows the draw MM has and the quick business style and backing from ME is a perfect blend. COYB

Oh!!! my god the endless signing of championship rejects continues with yet another player that cannot hold down a championship place at his present club!!! Do maccarthy ever stop to think why this is??? my guess no and they are panic signings just like keane and jewell did and totally failed.
