Latitude: Haim review

Sassy sisters Haim treated Latitude’s main stage as their living room as they oozed confidence in the Obelisk Arena.

The LA-based trio, whose debut album Days Are Gone was only released late last year, held a crowd of thousands on a humid Suffolk evening.

Opening with single Falling, they rattled through their many radio-friendly hits, encouraging people to clap along.

Alana Haim, together with sisters Este and Danielle, invited the crowd into their metaphorical home for a live jam – demonstrating they are not a manufactured group.

And the band introduced My Song 5 as their favourite song of the set, as it “makes certain parts of bodies shake”.

Its sludgy guitar line filled the arena, and the group appeared eager to show rock ‘n’ roll stage presence.

Bassist Este made facial expressions akin to Gene Simmons from Kiss throughout songs If I Could Change Your Mind and The Wire, and there was much playing up to rock clichés with electric guitar solos.

Looking completely comfortable on stage, Alana sipped from a bottle of water and quipped “I bet someone thinks that looks sexy”.

And hinting at their level of ambition they covered Beyonce hit XO.

If they play Latitude again, they may well be higher up the bill.
