The first time in Ipswich, and Truckfest - Europe’s largest trucking festival - did not disappoint.

The vast array of trucks in varying shapes and sizes were all presented proudly, gleaming in the sunshine and all hoping to win the truck awards at Trinity Park over the Father’s Day weekend.

The haulage industry too did not disappoint, showing off their best vehicles.

It seemed the crowd thought the bigger the wheels the better, as children and adults alike cheered as Slingshot, a 12ft monster truck, gave an impressive performance driven by Alan Vaughan.

The five tonne car-crushing machine defied gravity and leapt over five cars parked in a row, finishing with a daring wheelie past the crowd.

For those brave enough, rides were available not too far from the arena in the back of the adapted Mac Tools Cruiser monster truck.

The Professional Recovery Drivers Club then educated road users through an informative but impressive display.

They demonstrated the different kinds of equipment and methods that can be used to help in a difficult situation, going as far to show how a turned over lorry can be picked back up and righted.

Todd Dewey from Ice Road Truckers was the star guest and commentated throughout the displays.

If the fun fair wasn’t enough to entertain the kids, Lighting McQueen, Transformers and other superheroes were all on site too and stalls were selling merchandise to remember the day.

If you missed them this time, their next show is at Malvern at the end of the month.
