Suffolk criminals jailed at Ipswich Crown Court this week

Following a tip off from the public, officers conducted a search warrant in Spring Road, Ipswich.

Police found equipment that indicated a sophisticated grow operation, walls of multiple rooms covered in silver material, water barrel dispensers and specialised lighting devices. 

Erion Nezaj, 34 and of Spring Road, was seen escaping through the back window of the property as police arrived. 

He was found in a nearby road by police and started running, throwing a wheelie bin at pursuing police, but was caught and arrested. 

According to the prosecutor, Nezaj was a 'gardener' in the factory and worked to maintain the 195 plants found inside the property.

Nezaj pleaded guilty to producing and controlling cannabis and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Described as one of Ipswich's leading drug dealers, Ipswich Crown Court heard how police discovered 19 mobile phones linked to Dominic Denton which showed frequent contact with known class A users and street dealers.

There were unexpected deposits made to Denton's bank account of more than £147,000 during a five year period from 2017 to 2022.

The prosecution said he played a leading role in the supply of drugs in Ipswich and the surrounding areas between 2016 and 2022.

The 42-year-old, of Glamorgan Road in the town, was able to purchase a villa in Jamaica and used fake Domino's wage slips to purchase an Audi that would often turn up at drug raids going on in the town. 

Judge David Pugh sentenced Denon to eight and a half years for two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, and three years and five months for fraud. 

The sentences will be served concurrently but Denton will only serve half of his sentence in jail.
