A care worker has been fined for assaulting a female police officer outside a kebab shop in Bury St Edmunds.
Matthew Jones acted “completely out of character” during the incident outside Bury Kebab House.
The 28-year-old had since been suspended without pay from The Martins care home.
Jones, of The Vinefields, had drunkenly swung a punch at a man for making a comment about his shoes at 3.50am on January 28.
When a temporary police sergeant attempted to apply handcuffs, Jones shouted “get your hands off me.”
The officer called for assistance as Jones continued to pull away, before pushing her and swinging a punch.
Solicitor Lyndon Davies told Ipswich magistrates Jones was disgusted by his behaviour and was genuinely remorseful.
For threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour, and assaulting a constable, he was fined £160, ordered to pay £50 compensation and cover court costs.
