A public meeting has been set up in Rushmere St Andrew next month for people to share their views for the parish plan.

People who live and work in the area are being encouraged to have their say on issues such as infrastructure, transport and housing at the meeting, which takes place at the Village Hall in Humber Doucy Lane from 7.30pm on Tuesday, June 20.

The meeting will help decide whether a full neighbourhood plan will be pursued. A similar decision is also out for consultation in Playford currently.

Robert Whiting, district councillor for Fynn Valley and county councillor for Rushmere St Andrew and Kesgrave, said: “These parishes are providing a real opportunity for residents to have their say and get involved in what they want to see in their local community.

“If residents decide that they would like to see a neighbourhood plan developed it will also give them the opportunity to volunteer to be part of a very important team preparing the document.

“Once approved, a neighbourhood plan has considerable influence on the decision making process of future plans for the community.

“A neighbourhood plan gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.

“Residents are able to choose what and where things are built and have their say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided.”
