Couple celebrate 60 years of marriage after meeting at dance class in Ipswich in 1954

Margaret Saunders, 80, said she was taken aback when dashing Bryan Saunders dressed in a bow tie entered the room – although sadly his dance moves didn’t quite match his stylish dress.

“We didn’t continue the class because my husband has two left feet,” she said.

The couple married three years later on June 29, 1957, and had two daughters Debbie and Christine.

Mr Saunders later became manager of the suit department of Coes in Ipswich, a company he stayed with for more than 50 years.

The couple now have seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mr and Mrs Saunders celebrated their anniversary early with a big party at Fynn Valley Golf course near Ipswich surrounded by friends and family.

Mrs Saunders said the secret to a happy marriage was not letting the odd disagreement get you down.

She said: “There’s no point saying you have never had a cross word in 60 years, you must have.”
