A group of people – three adults and two children – were stuck in a lift in an Ipswich apartment block on Sunday night.
Fire crews from the town’s Princes Street station worked to get them out of the lift in the Wolsey Apartments in College Street.
Chiefs said the lift had developed a technical fault. The fire service was called at 10.30pm and did not get everyone out until 1.30am.
A fire service spokeswoman said: “Five people are stuck in a lift at Wolsey Apartments in College Street. One fire engine from our Princes Street station is at the scene and our crews are working hard to get the group out as soon as they can.
He said there was a technical fault with the lift which meant that the group was stuck between two floors and it took a long time to get them out safely.
