The search for the town’s most talented performers is due to begin again this week with the official launch of Ipswich Has Got Talent 2014.

The contest, first launched in 2009, gives musicians, comedians and other artists the opportunity to showcase their skills to the public before the finalists battle it out at a live event.

A spokesman said: “The aim of Ipswich Has Got Talent is to bring community members together and celebrate Ipswich as a safe place to live work and visit.

“Ipswich Best Bar None venues are again invited to host the heats throughout the spring.”

Last year a clutch of singers, dancers and even a 46-strong choir took to the stage of the Regent to battle it out for first place.

The winner was 19-year-old Leah Godbold, whose rendition of With You from Ghost: The Musical wowed the judges.

The launch of this year’s competition will be on Saturday and there will be full details in Monday’s Ipswich Star.
